Blogging the Bible

One of the more interesting uses of a blog that I’ve come across is David Plotz’s Blogging the Bible, which is housed on the online forum Slate.com. Plotz is Jewish, and one day while attending a bat mitzvah he got bored and started flipping through the scriptures during the service. He became intrigued by the story of Dinah in Genesis 34, one of those obscure Bible stories that most of us pass over. He realized that while he had been reading the Bible his whole life he had done so only in parts and with the guidance of a teacher always at hand.

So Plotz undertook this blogging project, which looks at the Bible through a layperson’s eyes. His observations are interesting and witty. If you’re looking for a different take on reading the scriptures you might enjoy this and, just maybe, you might do a bit of reading and observing yourself!
