In my sermon on Sunday, I invited folks to send in stories of those "God moments" that they find during the week. Amy Regan sent me one such moment I thought I’d pass along:
Putting my (13 year old) son on a school bus for Yellowstone at 5am, with the moon sinking in the west and the sky just starting to brighten in the east. It will be the longest time we’ve ever been apart and the first time he’s ever been on such an adventure without one of his parents. Knowing he is scared but watching him be brave and nonchalant in front of the other kids. Trusting other adults and God to watch over him for me, and trusting him to be the wonderful boy I know he is. Knowing that as he gets older, there will be many more leave-takings like this one, and understanding that this is what I’ve been preparing for all these years. Being grateful for the moment.
That’s definitely one of those memorable moments that we may not always take the time to appreciate. If you’ve been out and about this week and have a story to share, pass it on and we’ll post it here.
