Becoming a Mac-vangelist

Today we trained up on our new computers, which come to us to keep as part of the Beeson program. Wanting to make a change and wanting to see what all the hype about Apple is about, I opted for a MacBook Pro. I have to say it…I've drunk the Kool Aid and am now a convert.

The MacBook is intuitive and, for academic work, is infinitely more flexible for writing and research. Not to mention the fact that it's just plain cool–so many step-saving features. I have loved my little Dell XPS, but the MacBook is a new experience altogether. Only quibbles might be that I have to take my watch off to type comfortably given the depth of the keyboard and the fact that the power adaptor is a little hard to fit easily into my messenger bag, but those are nit-picky critiques. There is a definite learning curve, too, and it's going to take me awhile to get familiar with all the features. But if you're wondering whether you should make the switch, well, so far I'm hooked.

We hit the ropes course in the afternoon today. I've done a lot of these over the years but today was a bit different. Very good facilitation by Bill from Asbury College and a lot of fun had by all. We talked a lot about leadership styles and planning, coming up with some "bumper sticker" type lessons from each element.

We have tomorrow morning and early afternoon off before boarding a flight to Chicago for the Leadership Summit at Willow Creek Community Church near Chicago. I'll be blogging from there, too.
